A day with Tusting

Date: 11/01/2018
Location: Tusting Workshop, The Tannery Warehouse, Buckinghamshire.

On Thursday 11th January, I was invited to see the Tusting factory workshop. I tried to show you as much of the tannery as possible via video, but took some behind the scenes photos to show you the process of making a Tusting bag. Seeing the room full to the ceiling with beautiful, colourful rolls of leather was a dream come true. As we approached the various hides, we started to see the difference in textures and finishes. Surprisingly, some of my favourite pieces were the more vibrant ones. Most of their colourful leathers come from Spain. The majority of their leathers come from the UK, Spain, Italy and Turkey.

The company acts as a leather merchant, supplying Aston Martin and an array of popular shoemakers with their leathers. I've had the fortune to have previously visited leather factories and have yet to have come by a company with the amount of leather expertise of their skilled workers.Their knowledge comes from their deep history with the British leather trade, their showroom operating inside the original tannery.
Recommendations: On the left is the Holly leather handbag in Red- this is one of Gillian's favourites. William prefers his trusted backpack.
Valentine's Day ideas:
Anything red is a classic, and the red leather Holly (left) would be my personal choice. One of my favourite Valentine's Day presents was a leather luggage tag accompanied with plane tickets to a location that had a lot of meaning to us. A budget friendly option would be a personalised holdall with the promise to go somewhere at a future date. Personalisation options range between £30-75 covering up to four initials, or having the option of a written engraved personalised message- with the option of doing it with your own handwriting.

Thank you to Pop PR and Tusting for the opportunity to visit the workshop.
