With Memories

All necklaces are vintage, unlabelled, or have been gifted; the rings are all from different Spanish markets; the charm bracelet is a present and a DIY of my mother's heart shaped pendants throughout the years, and made by my Aunt.

I just recently went back home, and got my childhood jewellery back. It's so surreal to think about the nature in which each piece was received to make a memory. Long stories abominably short, above, you can see the silver crescent moon necklace my mother gave me as I turned ten, as my first year in an unfamiliar country. The 'A' necklace, I begged her for after stumbling across Carrie Bradshaw's Carrie necklace, and before realising that Ana Karina is too long a name to wear without it looking like a "bulletproof chest-plate", that necklace was worn everyday for eight years under my school uniform, and has still to be cleaned. The angel necklace was given to me by my Grandmother (aka G-diddy), for my quinceañero. Although even through my careful planning and meetings with locales- I wasn't to have a party, instead a surprise ski trip (my first time) was in order, and I had the best time in Chamonix.

The rest? Well, there are so many more stories and they're all intertwined, much like the box of chains that have yet to be untangled. Later gators.

ASOS jacket (sold out, similar here*), Monsoon blouse, AG Jeans, Next shoes, Mulberry bag.

I recently came back from Australia, and the only thing worse than the eye-rolls every time Australia is mentioned for the umpteenth time, is the extremely dry, dull winter skin I have yet to fully shed. Let me introduce you to one of my favourite products: For All My Eternity's* hand rescue cream. The cream is made with all natural and organic ingredients such as Avocado Oil and Coco Butter for rich moisture, Aloe Vera and Lavender Essential Oil for their anti-inflammatory properties, and of course: rose water- an anti-oxidant that helps regenerate tissue and strengthen skin cells.

Head in the clouds

Vintage blouse, Topshop jeans, Maison Michel hat.
Arriving to Hong Kong was truly amazing, it has been my dream to visit the city for the longest time, and seeing the city appear and disappear through the famous fog was absolutely magical. Though my time there was purely due to a layover, the notion of everyone bringing their A-game to the airport was apparent. Especially after meeting the lovely Nathalie from ohitsnathalie. I love how this is the only photo there is of me at the Airport: it might be hard to believe by my tired make-up free face (hey flight from Australia), but I'd just been too busy having so much fun.
To me, she is the embodiment of beautiful unique street style/ airport style. She was not only super sweet and gorgeous, but her style was airport crush worthy. The dress? Urban Outfitters, from a couple of seasons ago. This babe just happened to be looking like a billion dollars and über modern at the same time with her 70s inspired silhouette with subtle sheer inserts, (seriously how great is this dress) with a black leather jacket, the amazing fit of the leather jacket, was due to it hanging nonchalantly on her torso and giving her this lovely modelesque figure.

Want some extra airport inspiration? See more after the jump.

Little Pink Dress

Spicing things up with a bit of colour, though you never really get to see me in the all black outfits that make the rotation. This dress was bought after a brand told me to "bring some heels, oh, and something pink"- the day before a big interview. And if you thought there'd be something pink in my wardrobe, well, I went to Vinnie's and grabbed some dresses from the reduced pile- mostly because Aussie sizes are so painfully big on me, and partly because it wasn't until after many fuchsia/ magenta/ and this weird colour between coral and hot pink monstrosities, that I found a little blush gingham dress. It was beautifully lined and flared, with a Grecian draped bodice that would be a flattering fit for everyone (but me).

Forever New dress (thrifted from Vinnies), Max Mara coat, Primark shoes, Nasty Gal sunglasses, DKNY purse, Choies* necklace (originally a headpiece- available here for $6.90), MAC Russian Red lipstick.

So I got on the packed train to the interview when the man next to me spilled green curry all over my dress. But hey, it came out in the wash as soon as I got home. Another thing that was waiting for me at home was an adorable polka dot, pink(!) box containing the gold and pearl headpiece that I wore to Australian fashion week. I made this 'asymmetrical' necklace by experimenting with the front and side clasps in order to try to get some more wears out of one of my favourite accessories.

The Beach

Hedrena skivvy, Josh Goot skirt, Max Mara coat |
If there's one thing this job has taught me, is to discover a new place every day. This used to be my favourite walk in the Summer, either walking further and further on either side, or turning off on a road untravelled by myself. Walking through the cold sand reminded me of how easy it is to pack-up and make new memories. Feel the sand between your toes and start every day with your walk on the beach. Watch this space.
